Sherm Munnie is a young talented Makeup artist based in Kampala  that  does make up for Brides and models.

Get to know of how Sherm was inspired to join the Beauty industry in our exclusive Interview with her.

Could you introduce and tell us more about yourself?

My name is Shamusah Menorah, my friends call me Sherm and others call me Minnie. A Ugandan makeup artist based in Kampala with entrepreneur skills and a travel maniac.

HOW and WHEN did you get into Beauty Industry?

I was inspired by a Nigerian friend of mine: I am a self taught dollder who has never been in a makeup academy.

I started makeup way back in school I used to do makeup on my friends whenever we had parties and on my sisters and cousins in holidays. I was so passionate that I decided to make it my carrier

How would you describe your signature look?

My signature would be so easy not complicated because am not good at faking.

You started working in the Makeup Industry 2years ago, HOW has the industry changed since you began?

Oh my God! the industry has really changed alot regarding to the lots of people that have brought in competition. We have witnessed many Master Classes and a lot of Academy’s have been setup.

Does everyone look better with Make Up?

To me makeup looks good on anyone’s face regardless to the looks, you should all know that everyone looks good and beautiful after makeup.

A client is not happy with their look. How do you respond?

If a client feels uncomfortable with her look, I will have to Change it because I don’t dictate how they look. However, I only come in to advise on what would look on her/him.

Which celebrity is good at his Makeup?

Awww if am to choose a Ugandan celebrity, I will go with Rema Namakula. She looks good and her makeup is always on point and natural. Her make is so simple and classy that I would love to see a couple of celebrities balling like Rema.

What, in your opinion, is the most important quality in a Makeup Artist?

A makeup artist should really represent her carrier and should really be down to earth: I think what brings me customers is my work and behavior towards clients. A makeup artist should keep clean all the time including all materials.

Describe a time when you made a mistake in your duties. How did you rectify it?

Oh my God! I wasn’t confident, I was all confused that I couldn’t even tell the client. She was like dont mind and I asked if we can re-do the makeup and am glad that she accepted. This is when I discovered that she wasn’t pleased with the look: when we re-did the makeup, her looks came out well the way I wanted. I was happy seeing my clients smile back

Can you tell us about a memorable moment you had while doing makeup?

The first time I handled my first bridal job, the bride looked so beautiful, cute and pretty that her Aunties were like “You look so beautiful our Mugole”. This put a smile on my face that it made me more confident in what I do.

What three makeup items should no woman leave home without?

The three makeup items any woman shouldn’t leave home to my opinion include: red lipstick because it looks classy and also makes someone look good; lip gloss to those who dont prefer lipstick a lip gloss can look good (actually I can’t forget my lip gloss home); and the wipes to clean up ur self when you sweat, dry lips and dirt too.

Do you have any tips or advice for aspiring Makeup Artists?

Take your time it’s never easy in the beginning but at the end of the day if you’re really focused and passionate things become easy. Lastly pray to God and also have good work to represent you.
